-
What can I expect during my denture consultation?During your denture consultation, you can expect a thorough examination of your oral health, discussion of your denture needs and preferences, measurements and impressions of your mouth, and a detailed treatment plan tailored to your specific requirements.
-
How often should my dentures be replaced? The mouth is constantly changing but with regular checkups and maintenance, the average denture should be replaced every 5 to 10 years.
-
When should I get my denture relined?Regular maintenance of your denture is essential. To prolong the life of the denture and ensure your comfort while wearing it, a reline may be required approximately every 2 years.
-
How do I clean my dentures? We recommend that you brush your denture with a denture brush, gentle soap, and warm water after every meal. If stains occur, there are many denture cleaning products in which you can safely soak your dentures. These products can be purchased in our office. We discourage the use of abrasive toothpastes or bleaches as they will wear down your denture surfaces.
-
Is it necessary for me to get a partial lower denture?Absolutely! Partial dentures help keep your remaining teeth from shifting into the gaps left by missing teeth. Without a partial, your teeth can drift, lose support, and become unstable. Additionally, not wearing a partial can cause your tongue to enlarge, making it harder to fit a lower denture in the future if you lose more teeth. Plus, without a partial, you might struggle to chew your food properly, putting extra strain on your digestive system.
-
How much pain is involved with getting dentures? When you first get fitted for new dentures, it’s common to experience minor irritation, which should lessen as your mouth adjusts to them. The duration of discomfort can vary. If you had dentures before and are now getting a new set, it might take longer to adjust. Additionally, if natural teeth were removed when you got your new dentures, the extraction sites may be painful or uncomfortable for several weeks afterward. It’s important to have regular checkups with your denturist to adjust the dentures as you heal.
-
Do you accept (CDCP) Canadian Dental Care Plan?Yes, our office accepts the Canadian Dental Care Plan and will assist you with claiming, submitting, and handling the paperwork for your dental insurance.
-
Do you accept my dental insurance? We recognize the importance of making dental care accessible and affordable, which is why we proudly accept most major dental insurance plans. Our experienced team is well-equipped to navigate the complexities of dental insurance. When you schedule an appointment with us, we will verify your insurance coverage and provide an estimate of any out-of-pocket costs. We’ll also collaborate with your insurance provider to file claims on your behalf, ensuring you receive the full benefits you're entitled to. If you have any questions about your insurance coverage or our policies, our friendly and knowledgeable staff are always here to assist you. However, we strongly encourage all patients to contact their insurance company directly to ensure the accuracy of any estimates provided.
-
What is a denture reline?A denture reline is a procedure where the inner surface of a denture is resurfaced to ensure a proper fit and comfort for the wearer. It involves adding a new layer of material to the denture to adapt it to changes in the mouth's shape and size over time.
